I’ve had the song from this one stuck in my head since I watched it yesterday… another great cartoon from the Fleischers, featuring Tommy Cod. How they got the fish to smoke underwater, I have no idea.
Here’s a delightful MGM cartoon directed by Rudolph Ising that has been a frequent request of my daughter’s recently. Featuring The Three Little Kittens from the nursery rhyme. The kittens don’t appear to have been in any other cartoons.
Here’s an example I scanned of Peter Newell’s beautifully-drawn strip Polly Sleepyhead from 1907.

Here’s another example of Dr. Seuss done right by Hollywood. Here’s the trailer for the great live action Dr. Seuss movie from 1953, The 5000 Fingers of Dr. T. Seuss wrote the story, screenplay and lyrics for the film. Needless to say, it is wonderful.

Here’s an example I scanned of Uncle Mun from April 24, 1910 by Fred Nankivell.
Update: I earlier attributed this strip to Frank Nankivell. In the comments here, according to this Frank Nankivell’s granddaughter, Jody Nankivell Herriott, he had nothing to do with this strip, and the person that did do this strip was named Fred, not Frank.
