Here&#8217;s an example of Frederick Opper&#8217;s strip <em>And Her Name Was Maud<\/em> from September 30, 1906. This one has a header by Gus Mager of <em>Sherlocko the Monk<\/em> and <em>Hawkshaw the Detective<\/em> fame. <strong>Warning:<\/strong> this strip contains the sort of offensive racial stereotypes that were typical of the era&#8230; if such things offend you I suggest you avoid viewing this.
