{"id":245,"date":"2007-04-26T12:31:40","date_gmt":"2007-04-26T20:31:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.stwallskull.com\/blog\/?p=245"},"modified":"2007-04-26T12:31:40","modified_gmt":"2007-04-26T20:31:40","slug":"free-vertigo-first-issues-online","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.stwallskull.com\/blog\/2007\/04\/26\/free-vertigo-first-issues-online\/","title":{"rendered":"Free Vertigo First Issues Online"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>DC Comics imprint Vertigo is offering free .pdf files of the first issues of many of their titles online&#8230; a number of which are quite excellent. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dccomics.com\/sites\/vertigo_num1s\/\">You can download them here.<\/a> <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/stwallskull.com\/blog\/images\/comicsart_swampthing.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>(above image of Swamp Thing drawn by John Totleben found <a href=\"http:\/\/comicartfans.com\/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=108824&#038;GSub=8334\">here<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m sure most of these are worth checking out, but some of them really shouldn&#8217;t be missed (in their entirety, not just the first issues)&#8230; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dccomics.com\/graphic_novels\/?gn=1696\">Neil Gaiman&#8217;s <em>Sandman<\/em><\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dccomics.com\/graphic_novels\/?gn=1601\"><em>Death: The High Cost of Living<\/em><\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dccomics.com\/graphic_novels\/?gn=1669\"><em>Books of Magic<\/em><\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dccomics.com\/graphic_novels\/?gn=1661\">Alan Moore&#8217;s <em>Swamp Thing<\/em><\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dccomics.com\/graphic_novels\/?gn=1680\">Grant Morrison&#8217;s <em>Invisibles<\/em><\/a> are all quite fabulous. <\/p>\n<p>All of the above series have been completed and reprinted in book form. As far as stuff that is currently being serialized, I&#8217;ve been reading Brian K. Vaughan&#8217;s <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dccomics.com\/graphic_novels\/?gn=1736\">Y: The Last Man<\/a><\/em> and Bill Willingham&#8217;s <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dccomics.com\/graphic_novels\/?gn=1606\">Fables<\/a><\/em> recently (courtesy of the Minneapolis Public Library) and those are both good reads as well.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DC Comics imprint Vertigo is offering free .pdf files of the first issues of many of their titles online&#8230; a number of which are quite excellent.
